Über den Redner:
Ruben Pater is a designer at a moment in time, when more design is about the last thing the world needs. In search for ethical alternatives he designs, writes, and teaches. He is the author of two books on visual communication and design; The Politics of Design (2016) and CAPS LOCK (2021). He currently teaches at EINA University School of Design and Art of Barcelona and the Elisava Barcelona School of Design and Engineering.
Über den Vortrag:
Even though I ever use the term myself, my design work has repeatedly been called critical design. Contrary to critical theory which has a long history in academia, critical design lacks a clear definition and theoretical approach. Still its increased use has made the term critical design into an illegible carbon copy of critical theory. We look at the history of critical design, how and when it emerged, and see what this says about a critical design practice in times of neoliberalism.
